50 euro – 200 Years Joanneum at Graz

The obverse of the coin depicts the museum entrance at number 10 Raubergasse, which leads to the main part of the Joanneum Universal Museum. In the background, the modern Kunsthaus, known affectionately as the "Friendly Alien" by its creators, can be seen. In accordance with this modern design, on the left-hand side the landscape of the River Mur has been subtly stylised. The reverse side of the coin shows a detail of the armoury at Graz arsenal, the world's largest remaining historic arsenal. In the foreground is the armour of Michael Witz the Younger from Innsbruck, circa 1550.
