10 euro – 150th anniversary of the birth of Antonio Machado

To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Antonio Machado, the Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre-Real Casa de la Moneda has issued a commemorative coin depicting this poet and playwright, who belonged to the so-called Generation of '98. The obverse shows the number 150 in the background. Above it are images of a suitcase with books, a navy and orange blossom flowers. At the bottom of the coin, in curved form, is the legend 1875-2025. The reverse shows an image of Antonio Machado, corresponding to a photograph taken by Alfonso Sánchez Pórtela. The poet's signature appears to the left of the image, above a drawing of a feather. The lower part of the coin bears the legend 150 ANIVERSARIO ANTONIO MACHADO in curved capital letters.
