10 euro – 75th Anniversary Juan Sebastián Elcano Trainning Ship

Series: Spain – Silver 10 euro coins

August 17 2003 marked the 75th anniversary of the commencement of service of the "Juan Sebastian Elcano" as a training ship specializing in the training of future naval officers. To mark the occasion the Spanish Royal Mint proceeded to release a collector coin, which, in March 2005, won the prize for "the best 2003-mintage silver coin", awarded by the magazine World Coin News. Winning the award for "the best silver coin of 2003 mintage" by the prestigious magazine World Coin News, this collector coin minted in proof quality portrays H.M. King Juan Carlos I on the obverse. The reverse features the training ship riding the waves, where one can see, in latent image, the crowned letter "M" and the number 75.
