In cooperation with the Croatian Monetary Institute, the Croatian National Bank has issued a commemorative silver coin marking the 300th birth anniversary of Ruđer Josip Bošković, a Jesuit, astronomer, geodesist, mathematician, diplomat and philosopher, and one of the most prominent scientists of his time.

Minted in proof quality, the coin was released for sale on 23 December 2011.

The concept and design of the obverse of the commemorative silver coin is by the academic sculptor Stjepan Divković. The concept and design of the reverse of the commemorative silver coin is by the academic sculptor Damir Mataušić.

The issue was minted by the Croatian Monetary Institute.
