The 200 euro gold coin series entitled “Towards the Holy Year 2025” begins this year and consists of a three-year programme (2022-2023-2024) that will culminate in 2025 with the final coin dedicated to the Jubilee. The image on the coin’s reverse, designed by artist Arianna Cicconi, depicts the Good Shepherd holding a lamb on his shoulders. Jesus “The Good Shepherd” represents Christ the Saviour and the lamb is the soul he saved. Jesus is the good shepherd who cares for His flock, for all people down to the last lost sheep. He defends his flock and sacrifices his life for it. He is the spirit of the Holy Year, the forgiveness and salvation of all sinners.
