The "Cutty Sark" was built in 1869 by the Scott & Linton Shipyards west of Glasgow for £16.500. She served as a Tea- and Woolclipper and was said to be one of the fastest Sailships in the world. The "Cutty Sark" was the last clipper which was built as a merchant vessel. In 1954 it was laid on a dry dock in London and serves as a Museum since then. In May 2007 the "Cutty Sark" nearly burnt down completely. Until the end of 2011 the restauration is supposed to be complete and reopened for public.
