The Swiss Federal Supreme Court, based in Lausanne, is the highest judicial authority in Switzerland. It ensures the uniform application of federal law and guarantees the protection of citizens' fundamental rights. Through its judgements, it plays a vital role in the Swiss democratic system by upholding justice and equality before the law. Founded in 1875, it celebrates its 150th anniversary in 2025. This event marks a century and a half of commitment to independent and impartial justice, guaranteeing the principles of the rule of law. The bimetallic coin featuring with “Justitia”, the strong symbol of justice, commemorates this anniversary. Justitia is an allegorical representation of justice and is traditionally depicted with a sword and scales, symbolising the force of the law and impartiality of judgements respectively. She embodies the fundamental principles of the Federal Supreme Court: justice, integrity and impartiality. The obverse of the coin features a representation of Justitia, carrying a sword symbolising the authority and force of the law. She is accompanied by the jubilee years, “1875–2025”. The words “150 years” appear in the four national languages (German, French, Italian and Romansh), reflecting Switzerland's linguistic and cultural diversity. The face value of CHF 10 appears on the reverse of the special coin.
