400 euro – 4th Series Spanish Painters - El Greco

This coin with a face value of 400 Euros reproduces on the obverse El Greco's painting "Aged Nobleman" that is housed in the Prado Museum in Madrid. The reverse depicts a detail from another of El Greco's paintings "The Martyrdom of Saint Maurice" that is held by the Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial.
