400 euro – 2nd Series Spanish Painters - Dalí

Series: Spain – Gold 400 euro coins

This coin with a denomination of 400 euros reproduces on the obverse a depiction of the oil painting "Galarina" (1944-1945), a magnificent portrait of Gala, Dali's muse, for whom he felt profound admiration and which is kept, as are the other paintings portrayed in this set (with the exception of the oil "The Temptation of St. Anthony"), in the Gala-Salvador Dali Foundation in Figueres (Gerona). The reverse of this first coin features the central scene from the oil painting "Tristan and Isolde" (1944). This legend of medieval origin relates the story of two lovers whose hopeless love captured the attention of Dali.
