10 euro - Baptism MMXIX

The 10 euro gold coin issued by the Numismatic Office this year celebrating Baptism as the foundation of Christian life is a work created by artist Patrizio Daniele, who depicts Jesus while receiving the sacrament. “Baptism opens for us the door to a life of resurrection”, Pope Francis explains and “the baptismal font is the place in which one experiences the Easter Passover with Christ…the old self, with ‘deceitful desires’, is buried (cf. Eph 4:22), so that a new creature may be born.”
